This page provides information about the professional framework within which “TheRegulatedReturn” operates, including scope of practice, safeguarding considerations, and professional boundaries.
It is provided for transparency and ethical clarity.
Scope of practice
The work offered through *The Regulated Return* is trauma-informed and nervous-system-led, with a focus on stabilisation, regulation, and integration following narcissistic or emotionally abusive relationships.
Support is offered within a defined professional scope. This includes:
- individual psychological therapy
- psychoeducation
- regulation-focused therapeutic work
- stabilising hypnosis and guided practices
This service does not provide emergency mental health care, crisis intervention, or intensive trauma processing.
Safeguarding and risk
Safeguarding is taken seriously within this practice.
If you are experiencing acute distress, feel unable to keep yourself safe, or require immediate or intensive support, this service may not be appropriate at that time. In such circumstances, contacting local emergency services, your GP, or an appropriate crisis support service is advised.
Where there are concerns relating to immediate risk of harm, appropriate signposting may be offered.
Online therapy provision
All therapy sessions are offered online.
Online therapy can be effective for many people. Suitability for online work is considered on an individual basis and may be reviewed where safeguarding concerns arise or where in-person support would be more appropriate.
Confidentiality and its limits
Confidentiality is respected and upheld in accordance with professional and ethical standards.
There are recognised limits to confidentiality, including where there is:
- serious risk of harm to yourself or others
- safeguarding concerns involving children or vulnerable adults
- a legal or statutory obligation to disclose information
Where possible and appropriate, such matters would be discussed with you.
Programme-based work and guided audio
Any psychoeducational programmes, guided hypnosis, or audio resources provided through “The Regulated Return” are designed to support stabilisation and regulation.
These resources:
- do not involve regression or memory retrieval
- are not a substitute for therapy or crisis care
- include guidance on pacing and stopping
Participants are responsible for engaging with these resources in a way that supports their own safety and wellbeing.
Review of clinical appropriateness
The appropriateness of this work is considered on an ongoing basis.
There may be circumstances where alternative or additional support is recommended, either temporarily or longer-term. This reflects a commitment to ethical practice and client safety.
Professional boundaries
Clear professional boundaries are an essential part of this work.
This practice does not provide:
- crisis response outside agreed sessions
- couples or family therapy involving an abusive partner
- legal, financial, or forensic advice
Boundaries are maintained to support safety, clarity, and sustainability.
Agency and choice
Engagement with this work is voluntary.
You may pause or end therapy or programme-based work at any point. Ending work is treated as a valid and complete choice.
Final note
